Paula received a Master of Architecture and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Washington and attended the Architectural Association in London as part of the Visiting Students Programme. She has over six years of professional experience working on residential and commercial projects, ranging from single-family homes to multifamily and mixed-use projects, as well as an upscale commercial food hall and rooftop event space. With a background in the fine arts, she brings to her practice more than ten years of experience in wood and metal fabrication.
Paula lived in Germany as a child and has since had the opportunity to live and conduct research in London, Paris, Helsinki, and Stockholm. Her research is positioned at the intersection of architecture and phenomenology with a focus on the centrality of imagination to meaningful experience and has been published in conference proceedings, journals, and anthologies.
Paula is a recipient of the Alpha Rho Chi Bronze Medal. She has held teaching positions at the University of Washington CBE and Parsons SCE. Her work has been published in the New York Times, Popular Mechanics, and French GQ.
Paula is a registered architect in the state of New York. She joined DXA studio in 2022.
