Another Kind of Sunrise is an organic cereal-focused café conceived of by Zavalaz & Devendra Banhart drummer Gregory Rogove and actress/artist Diana Garcia. Located in a craftsman bungalow at 1629 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Sunrise is nestled between fine food and fine clothing destinations the Tasting Kitchen and Stronghold.

DXA studio teamed with Greg & Diana, LA-based artists Matthew Morgan and Brandon Boyd (singer of the band Incubus) and Landscape Designer (and former VP of Horticulture for the High Line) Patrick Cullina to create a beautiful courtyard café dedicated to the enjoyment of cereal.

Floor and wall murals of sunrises by the team are accented by reclaimed lumber planter boxes dedicated to growing fruits for the cereals, but also serve as seating and lighting stanchions. In the spirit of Sunrise’s musician owner, all elements of the café, kitchen and counter included, are built for touring, folding into transportable boxes that allow them to take the show on the road for special events.
