133 W 25th Street is a 50,000 SF vertical enlargement and façade replacement of an existing 9-story commercial and office building, located at the intersection of Chelsea, NoMad and Midtown South neighborhoods. Originally built in 1921, the renovation will feature a complete façade redesigned keeping the historical context of the predominant prewar industrial design with modern and prominent structural elements to complement a dynamic façade design. The project adds a 4-story addition atop the existing structure to maximize F.A.R, thus increasing rentable floor area while adding exterior common spaces to the building. Eleven single-tenant and one shared floor office spaces will occupy the building, as well as a retail space at ground level. The junction of industrial geometry and materiality will modernize the existing building and rejuvenate the surrounding context.
